Summary: Ankh: inventory items are not displayed at the top of the screen Product: Wine Version: 0.9.32. Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: trivial Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: hoehle@users.sourceforge.net
Among the dozen versions of Wine which I tested (ranging from 0.9.32 to 1.1.36, versions >0.9.43 with work-around described in bug #21351), none displayed correctly in the top row of the screen the items that the player collects in the adventure. The oldest versions tend to display strange patterns loosely related to some inventory items, the newer ones typically display nothing. Moving the mouse over the item's position still describes them, but it would be a PITA to play the game this way.
Using Ubuntu Intrepid with Intel i915 onboard graphics.

--- Comment #1 from Jörg Höhle hoehle@users.sourceforge.net 2010-01-14 02:55:56 --- The inventory items are correctly displayed on MacOS 10.5.8 with NVidia graphics, UseGLSL=disabled, setting plugins.cfg to use the OpenGL renderer instead of the default one (to prevent the black screen bug #21351) in wine-1.1.34. Changing the subject line to mention Intel graphics.

--- Comment #2 from Jörg Höhle hoehle@users.sourceforge.net 2010-06-11 20:05:09 --- More precisely, in Ubuntu Intrepid with Intel i915 graphics with wine-1.2rc1, using the (non-default) OpenGL renderer due to bug #21351, the icons initially display correctly. Then their outline slowly grows black until a black square is displayed around each one (after ~3 seconds). In addition, the broken icons are shifted: the leftmost displays garbage pixels, the second one displays the image of the one to its left, etc... The subtitles mention the actual items when hovering over them.

--- Comment #3 from Jörg Höhle hoehle@users.sourceforge.net 2010-06-11 20:08:14 --- In Ubuntu Intrepid with Intel i915 graphics with wine-1.2rc3 the icons initially display correctly after loading (and at the correct position). When hovering the mouse over them, their icons turn into coloured squares instead.

--- Comment #4 from Wolfgang Klein klein.wolfg@web.de 2010-10-31 13:50:08 CDT --- I am using Kubuntu 10.04, Wine 1.3.5, the latest NVidia driver (260.19.12) on a GeForce 8400, and I don't see any inventory either while playing Ankh. I tried several combinations of (de-)activating hardware acceleration and/or pixel shader, but I have not yet found a working combination.

--- Comment #6 from Jörg Höhle hoehle@users.sourceforge.net 2012-02-27 15:17:20 CST --- Still present in 1.4-rc5 with Intel i915 graphics in Ubuntu Intrepid. The items now look like square mapping textures from other graphic objects. As before, the are ok on MacOS 10.5.8 with NVidia. Note that you need DirectDrawRenderer=gdi nowadays because of bug #29975

--- Comment #7 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.16 or newer) wine?
