Summary: UnrealED 2: Cannot manipulate the viewports in any way. Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: nbowler@draconx.ca
Created an attachment (id=19534) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=19534) Log of UnrealED session
Now that bug 7451 is fixed, it is possible to start the unreal editor. Everything works... except for any kind of viewport manipulation (which is done by clicking and dragging in the viewport with various combinations of shift, control, etc.) As a result, it is impossible to use the editor because you simply cannot see all parts of the map nor move things around in the viewports.
It is, however, possible to subtract a cube and then apply textures to the surfaces that are initially visible by clicking on them in the viewport.
This may affect other versions of the unreal editor, but I am not sure.
The attached log was output when starting an unrealed session, attempting to click and drag on the main viewport, then quitting. However, all of the log messages were output before I touched the viewport.

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-08-26 13:25:53 --- Is this still present in current (1.1.28 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #2 from Nick Bowler nbowler@draconx.ca 2009-08-26 14:03:53 --- Yes, the issue persists in latest git.

--- Comment #4 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-12-20 22:15:52 CST --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.3.9 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #5 from Nick Bowler nbowler@draconx.ca 2011-01-04 22:42:36 CST --- With wine-1.3.10, the issue is still present.

--- Comment #6 from GreatEmerald pastas4@gmail.com 2011-07-03 04:09:46 CDT --- Still there with 1.3.20. It seems that selecting viewports doesn't work, they stay inactive for some reason. If you set them to floating, they are not decorated by the native window manager and don't light up when selected.
Wine outputs "fixme:win:LockWindowUpdate (0x102e8), partial stub!" multiple times, I believe that this is very much related. I'll attach the full output.

--- Comment #8 from GreatEmerald pastas4@gmail.com 2012-07-24 05:03:16 CDT --- This bug still persists in Wine 1.5.8, and it affects UnrealEd 3.0 (from UT2004) as well.

--- Comment #9 from Marisa saniukeokusainaya@gmail.com 2012-11-17 06:51:03 CST --- Wine 1.5.17 here, bug still present. This issue is so annoying I've practically given up modding UT since I did the Linux switch.
So as it looks like, no one is actually assigned to this bug, right?

--- Comment #10 from GreatEmerald pastas4@gmail.com 2012-12-10 13:40:11 CST --- Looks like it. Overall this bug report has been very quiet... Which is unfortunate, since UnrealEd is one of the few programs that won't even run in a virtual machine properly.
If there is any more information needed, I am sure we could provide it. Unfortunately, with nobody assigned, there is no telling what information is necessary, if any.

--- Comment #11 from GreatEmerald pastas4@gmail.com 2013-10-14 13:03:08 CDT --- After a more in-depth investigation, this issue is caused by issue #13951. Applying the patch from there fixes the immediate issue, you can then move all the viewports correctly, including the animations view and the texture 3D preview.
There's still an issue where clicks are not registered, but it's a separate issue entirely, so a new report should be opened for it.
As for this bug, I suggest either setting issue #13951 to the "depends on" field, or closing this bug as duplicate of that one.

--- Comment #12 from GreatEmerald pastas4@gmail.com --- This is fixed, at least as of 1.7.25, tested in UnrealEd 2.1.
UnrealEd 3.0 still has issues, but that needs a separate bug report.
