When running the Ableton Live 7.07 (trial version) setup program to install, the setup program crashes as soon as the "licensing agreement" window is supposed to show up.
This previously worked fine under wine 1.0.

--- Comment #2 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2008-07-15 13:51:45 --- Where is the crash? Attached log doesn't have the crash backtrace. Also why are you running Wine as root?

--- Comment #3 from Kevin K crush@crushkill.com 2008-07-15 14:18:19 --- Why not run as root? its a workstation thats 99% of the time offline. Its not a production server and no one else depends on this box.
Perhaps theres no crash backtrace because the program itself isnt technically "crashing" , it could be that theres a windowing /d3d issue.
To be more verbose :
1. I run ableton's setup program through wine 2. The installation starts, and the installation wizard commences. There is a general "welcome" message, and the wizard says to click "next" 3. The next window is /supposed/ to be an "i agree" type licensing agreement page. Instead the wizard box goes blank and doesnt refresh. Randomly clicking everywhere on the box does nothing (as far as I've tried).
If anyone can recommend another way to trace this issue that will produce more usable information, that would be appreciated as well.
Thank you for your attention.

This is a riched20 library bug. You can solve the problem by installing native riched20.dll and riched32.dll from WinXP. See http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6254
Thank you. Copying the windows XP dll's and setting winecfg to use them instead of the wine native dll's allowed me to complete and proceed with the installation of Ableton w/ wine 1.1.1.
Unfortunately, I am now able to confirm that the original problem exists.
