Bug ID: 56242 Summary: memoQ Crossover installs but refuses to run Product: Wine Version: 8.21 Hardware: Other OS: MacOS Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: pjloc@hotmail.com
Created attachment 75949 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=75949 backtrace displayed in Crossover
I'm trying to install memoQ 8.7.19 or more recent using Codeweavers Crossover.
Dependecies preinstalled: The Kitchen Sink gdiplus.dll (was reported as missing in previous backtrace, now it no longer shows up as missing, so it's not the current blocker). I would really like to have this software running but I can't figure out how. The software installs several apps in the same bottle (one is a license manager).
Thanks!!!

--- Comment #2 from TTechCo pjloc@hotmail.com --- Hello,
Let's be nice. I landed here because I followed the steps displayed while using Crossover. So, if that's not correct/current, please fix the information shared with users. Crossover uses Wine. Buying Crossover is the best way to support the Wine project, is it not? So if you don't want to approach this issue (which I think is a Wine or Winetricks issue), please reply here giving me some pointers that I could add to my support request when writing to Codeweavers so that they have everything they need to start looking into this issue.
My bests

Hello,

Could you provide the steps you saw in CrossOver that guided you here? I think it should be fixed. Please submit it to https://www.codeweavers.com/contact-us, or send through an e-mail to me if you prefer. Thanks in advance.

Not sending issues of CrossOver to WineHQ's Bugzilla is basically a technical problem, because CrossOver is using a modified Wine by itself, CodeWeavers develops and maintains the fork by itself. So an issue of CrossOver may not be an issue of Wine, if users of CrossOver submit a CrossOver issue to WineHQ, this can confuse WineHQ developers. And we can't assume all the WineHQ developers are interested in the fork and even know details about the fork, because not all the Wine contributors are working for CodeWeavers. So as Austin suggested, please submit a ticket to CodeWeavers at https://www.codeweavers.com/contact-us when you have any problem while using CrossOver. Our support team will help you there. And this you deserved while you paid for the software.

Hello,
Let's be nice.
Sorry if you thought I was being rude, that was not my intention.

Well, that would be up to Crossover to do, not Wine, as they ship a modified version.

It is a good way to support Wine, yes. However, as Jactry said, if you pay for Crossover, you are entitled to their support. WineHQ doesn't support it.
So if you don't want to approach this issue (which I think is a Wine or Winetricks issue), please reply here giving me some pointers that I could add to my support request when writing to Codeweavers so that they have everything they need to start looking into this issue.
If you think this is a Winetricks issue, that should be reported to https://github.com/Winetricks/winetricks, not here. While I do work on Winetricks, that's a separate project and problems with it should be reported there, not here.
