Bug ID: 35511 Summary: NdrProxyInitialize causes crash during set up Product: Wine Version: 1.4.1 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: paul.manners@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 47404 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=47404 backtrace from crash
When trying to run a setup application it fails. See the attached backtrace. On recommendation I installed ie7 through winetricks. This unfortunately did not help.

--- Comment #1 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com --- Wine 1.4.1 is very old, please update to the latest development version (currently 1.7.11) and try again.
What is the application you are trying to install? Is it legally available for download?

--- Comment #2 from paul.manners@gmail.com --- Is there a way to get 1.7.11 using winetricks? (I'm running latest release of Ubuntu and this is what ships with it).
The application is ENVI, a scientific data processing application. It's a commercial application but you can get a 30 day trial licence for free if you register on their website and go through the process.

--- Comment #3 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- You'd need to either compile from source, or use a PPA. See http://www.winehq.org/download/ubuntu

--- Comment #5 from paul.manners@gmail.com --- So running with 1.7.11, I get the following popup message during installation:
Feature Transfer: Error -1627 Function failed
After which the setup program bombs out and it's game over.
I've attached what I see in the console output. I don't know if this is sufficient information or if there is something else I can do.
Again I installed ie7 through winetricks on top of a clean .wine directory.

--- Comment #6 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.37 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.37 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).
