Bug ID: 53097 Summary: wine steam: flickering (on UHD 630) Product: Wine Version: 7.9 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: dufresnep@zoho.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 72526 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=72526 My badge page filickering in Steam
I installed OpenSuse Tumbleweed today, and use "wine SteamSetup.exe" to install Steam.
CPU is working at about 50% (i3-8100). There is flickering that I was able to capture with new screen capture movie in Gnome 42. Hope to be able to attach it.

--- Comment #1 from Paul Dufresne dufresnep@zoho.com --- Created attachment 72527 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=72527 how rendering is partly done where mouse cursors goes
Attaching a video showing how rendering is partly done where mouse cursors goes.

--- Comment #2 from Paul Dufresne dufresnep@zoho.com --- A bit surprisingly, my game "Runes of Magic" (3D game similar to World of Warcraft) is playable, although colors are a bit wrong as opposed when I play on Fedora 36 with the Steam Linux client. Also text fonts are a bit broken, although readable.
I have a strange hypothesis: rendering bright pixels make bright pixels appears around, rendering black pixels make black pixels rendering around... and max flickering would be gray like images... like white text on a black background.

--- Comment #4 from Paul Dufresne dufresnep@zoho.com --- No winetricks... nothing special.
I have seen similar flickering on an other distro about 1.5 years ago while playing Eve Online (I thought it was mostly when information screen was superimpose on background image).
I am thinking to try to install steam from snap package. I guess I can keep this one and install the Snap one too to see how it evolve and how it compares.

--- Comment #5 from Paul Dufresne dufresnep@zoho.com --- So I realized that in Tumbleweed, a "native" packet exist for Steam: https://software.opensuse.org/package/steam
So I installed it with: "su - zypper install steam" depending on the way the OS was installed it could be: "sudo zypper install steam" got: ... (95/98) Installing: pipewire-modules-0_3-32bit-0.3.51-1.2.x86_64 .........[done] (96/98) Installing: pipewire-spa-plugins-0_2-32bit-0.3.51-1.2.x86_64 .....[done] (97/98) Installing: steam-1.0.0.74-5.1.x86_64 ............................[done] (98/98) Installing: steam-devices-1.0.0.74-5.1.x86_64 ....................[done] localhost:~ # logout
No flickering with that version in the Steam Browser. Re-Downloading my game.

Hello,
That was asked in comment 10 and the result is attached to comment 11. The UI apparently still flickers with the patch.
Regards.
