Bug ID: 50938 Summary: Stop alt key from getting stuck on alt-tab Product: Wine Version: unspecified Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: sojuz151@gmail.com Distribution: ---
When you use alt-tab shortcut to switch to another window and then switch back in, application will at no point receive alt key up signal. User needs to press alt again to make this key unstuck. This behevior is observed in Plasma and in lxde, both of them use alt-tab for windows switching.
Behaviour on windows: alt key is not stuck in down position after alt-tabing out of any application
How to test: this can be observed in any keyboard testing program. I used switch hitter for testing.
Is it really a bug? Maybe not. Still very annoying in full-screen games.

--- Comment #2 from antipokemon@gmail.com --- I have this issue as well. It seems to only occur when "Windowed (virtual desktop)" is active. Every Alt+Tab requires a repress of Alt when returning to the application within Wine. I have Wine 6.18, but am using 6.10 through Lutris.

--- Comment #3 from Patrick Klein Patrick@Kleinsbande.de --- This bug is still present on wine version 8. I'm on Fedora 38 Workstation with Gnome 43. The behaviour is as stated above: Alt+Tabbing out of the virtual desktop keeps the ALT-Key stuck. Probably because alt-tabbing is shifting the focus to another app, never sending a keyup (release) event to the application inside the virtual desktop. Dis behaviour is not limited to an application or desktop enviornment but for the virtual desktop as a whole. To contradict, this behaviour is not limited to the Windowed mode. I tested each mode (Windowed, Borderless and Fullscreen) replicating this bug.
