--- Comment #2 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net 2007-11-25 07:26:57 --- Hello,
which Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable package are you using?
I tested with "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package" from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=200B2FD9-AE1A-4A14-... and the original RTM Version, shipped with Microsoft Visual C++ 2005.
Both are installing fine.
The attached trace log does not contain any crash related message (access violation). The fixme's printed there are harmless and can be safely ignored.
Regards

--- Comment #3 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net 2007-11-25 07:32:10 --- Hello again,
well skip my comment regarding "which Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable package are you using?", I missed the URL in bug report ;-)
The download there *is* the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86) RTM version as shipped with Microsoft Visual C++ 2005.
No problems installing it. Again: where do you see the crash? There is no console message related to a crash...

--- Comment #4 from Michael Reiley blahboybang@gmail.com 2007-11-25 14:42:41 --- It just didn't seem to do anything. It began extracting files needed for the install, and then it just ended for no reason. It doesn't look like anything was actually installed.

--- Comment #5 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net 2007-11-25 15:51:19 --- Hello,
--- quite --- It just didn't seem to do anything. It began extracting files needed for the install, and then it just ended for no reason. --- quite ---
Well, the installer extracts files, you shortly might see a "copying files" dialog flashing and then it ends. Did you expect some setup dialog/interaction/"install successful" after accepting EULA? This "quick end" is how the installer works and is of course *expected* behaviour.
--- quote --- It doesn't look like anything was actually installed. --- quite ---
Please go to "c:\windows\winsxs" and look for any directories and files related to VC80 runtime (msvc?80.dll) If that is the case, the installation was successful.

--- Comment #7 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2007-11-26 00:12:00 --- And all those are directories? Can you use 'find ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/winsxs -type f' instead?

Error Message on 0.9.49 even after VCredist installed
This error message has nothing to do with the summary of this bug.
Closing worksforme, as multiple people were able to confirm that "Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package" does install fine.
