I am attempting to install World of Warcraft WotLK on wine. At around 8%-10% it gives the above error. I am also using wine on Ubuntu, not sure if that makes a difference or not.

--- Comment #1 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2009-09-08 22:55:54 --- Wine version? If it's not wine-1.1.29, upgrade. Attach as a plain text file (do not paste) complete terminal output.

This error occurs on my system also.
I want to contribute with some screenshots, when installer begins to run (by typing "wine TryWow.exe" in a console), the first thing that happens is the message (in a popup with any message) showed in the file that I attached.
When installing, appears several times the same popup message, in the console appears many messages as it.

This message demonstrates that wine crashes when upgrade of installer finishes.
In the console appears the stack trace and segmentation fault.

--- Comment #10 from Britney britneybarker@gmail.com 2009-09-17 14:41:38 --- I'm not sure what native wininet is. I have been able to get the game to download but it still won't install without crashing.

The bug will be fixed once somebody (that could be you) spends the time investigating it, and creates a patch/test case.

Thank you very much! :) I'm still VERY new to this, not even sure how to 'investigate' to confirm the problem let alone make a patch but I will help in any way I can. :)

--- Comment #13 from Iceburgh69@cableone.net 2009-10-04 16:08:46 --- I have the same issue. I can get WOW to install off of the downloaded version, however when it tries to patch, I get the Wine needs to close popup, and WOW locks up, making me force quit the program. I have no idea how to run Wine from the command prompt, largely because I can't find it. Otherwise, I'd happilly send along the log.

On closer inspection and advice I got while talking to others I know who have used Linux before/are using it currently, downloading the patchs manually and running them locally seems to work, tedious as it is.
