Summary: Can not Use Windows MS Office Workspace Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: jonathan.harrison@baroni-limited.com
I am running Ubuntu 9.10
I also use, before changing, Windows Office Workspace that I store many files on and share with a number of organisations.
Using IE7 with WINE 1.1.31 I can access the site and view documents. I can also add documents, but I am unable to download or edit any.
I have reported on the forum, but users suggest it is a bug.

Sorry, but what command do I type -=I am not trully Linux literate
http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log Use your terminal emulator to do that. And don't forget to 'cd' to application directory first.

--- Comment #4 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net 2010-03-04 21:07:22 --- Most things work when accessing the site via Firefox 3.5.6 installed with winetricks. I was able to create an account, login, view, download, upload, and share documents.
What doesn't work is the edit function.
Edit in Office Workspace is not an online edit--it's an add-in for Microsoft Office that must be downloaded and installed. It's supposed to add a toolbar to Office apps to allow them to directly access documents stored in your account.
Downloading the setup.exe for the add-in worked fine. It started fine and did download and start to install the msi file, but the install failed with error code 1603. The msi file was still in the temp directory, so I tried installing it with msiexec /i. It started, and I got past the EULA, but then also failed.
Severity should probably be minor, since the bug has an easy workaround; just download the file and open it.
Tested in 1.1.39.

Tested with Office 2007 Enterprise installed in that wineprefix.

This was in the temp directory; it was saved by the installer.

--- Comment #8 from Andrew Nguyen arethusa26@gmail.com 2010-03-04 23:51:08 --- Some tracing of the Office Live Toolbar installer suggests that the installer suffers from bug 18070, as reverting commit b8965ee7c90a687af4c84ad0ede73b1df901e16c allows it to install.

--- Comment #9 from Juan Lang juan_lang@yahoo.com 2010-03-05 12:08:22 --- Indeed, I'd agree with Andrew's assessment. Here's the suspect part of the log: err:ole:CoCreateInstance apartment not initialised err:msi:custom_get_thread_return Invalid Return Code -2147221008
-2147221008 is CO_E_NOTINITIALIZED. If you revert the patch in bug 18070, does it work?

--- Comment #13 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2011-11-16 15:54:57 CST --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 1.5 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.3.32 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #14 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net 2011-11-17 06:45:19 CST --- Microsoft discontinued Office Live Workspace as of January 21, 2011, and migrated all existing accounts to Windows Live Skydrive. The toolbar plugin for Office 2003/2007 doesn't work with Skydrive and is no longer available for download.

--- Comment #15 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net 2011-11-18 07:36:19 CST --- To clarify comment 14, the old toolbar add-in for Office 2003/2007 doesn't work with Skydrive in Windows, either.
With Office Live Workspace gone, this bug is moot. Since we don't have a "can't fix" option I'm going to mark it abandoned.
