Bug ID: 41153 Summary: Screen on Mac flickers after quitting Wine Product: Wine Version: 1.8-rc4 Hardware: x86 OS: Mac OS X Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: vjurjen@gmail.com
Hi there,
I just downloaded on old version of the PC game Driver (1999) and installed and played it through Wine. While playing the game, there was a flicker noticeable from the game’s loading-screen on top of the game. It didn’t bother me, until I quit the game + Wine and the flicker was still there.
Even when I rebooted my Macbook Pro several times, the flicker is still on the screen.
I’m running a Version 1.8-rc4 (1.8-rc4) of WineBottler on a MacbookPro Retina 15”, mid 2014 / Yosemite 10.10.4
Any ideas on how to solve this?
Thanks in advance!

--- Comment #1 from Ken Thomases ken@codeweavers.com --- This sounds like a hardware problem, either with your screen or your GPU. There's nothing that Wine should be able to do to cause such a symptom.

--- Comment #2 from Jurjen vjurjen@gmail.com --- Thanks for getting back so quickly. In the flicker, the image of the load-screen of the game is still visible, so it did happen after playing it. Perhaps this gives some more info?

Even after the reboots? Try shutting the Macbook down entirely and waiting 15 seconds before starting it up again.
Anyway, the flicker would presumably be showing you some leftover data in the VRAM. The precise nature of that data is not really significant.
