Attempted with both a 64-bit and 32-bit wineprefix. Single player works just fine, but within a couple seconds of loading a multiplayer game it crashes back to the menu with an 'unknown error'.

So this bug might have been fixed in the last year or two, but I'm going to guess that it's related to Bug 29582 and mark it as a duplicate of that bug. If multiplayer still crashes for you even with Wine Staging and WINEESYNC=1, feel free to reopen this bug report.
