Summary: Winecfg crashes when run through VNC Product: Wine Version: 0.9.50. Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: wine-x11driver AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: benjamin.j.mccann@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=9580) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=9580) Output when running winecfg through VNC
I filed another bug (Bug 10732) earlier, which I believe was also resultant of my attempt to run winecfg through VNC. I was told it was an error with my video driver, so I uninstalled the driver. Now using the basic NV driver instead of Nvidia's driver I am given a different output, which I've attached. This is on openSUSE 10.3.

--- Comment #1 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2007-12-09 20:15:43 --- Same bogus bug. DO not mix and match different drivers. You either properly install drivers or you don't. It seems you are mixing nvidia and mesa drivers. Invalid fix your system setup.
Marking as duplicate of another bogus bug report.

--- Comment #3 from Ben McCann benjamin.j.mccann@gmail.com 2007-12-09 20:39:35 --- How can you tell there is something wrong with my system setup? I'd be happy to fix it, but to me everything seems fine. This is the default openSUSE 10.3 setup. What is it that is wrong?

--- Comment #4 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2007-12-09 21:46:09 --- Not Wine bug - invalid. Contact your distro support. As I told you - you mixing nvidia video driver and mesa software driver. Why that happens and how to fix - not our problem.

--- Comment #7 from Dan Devoe bugzilla@devoetronics.com 2008-02-04 10:46:21 --- I realize that this bug has been closed as "bogus", but want to report that I am receiving the exact same error, both on openSuse10.3 (32-bit).
One of the installs is on an old Pentium-II, and does use an nVida graphics card.
The other is on an IBM T-30 THinkpad, which uses an ATI graphics card.
The error is the same on both, and is the same as the error log that was attached when this ticket was initially entered.
This may very well be an error in the suse distribution, but then again, perhaps it should be re-addressed.
As an aside, on the T30 laptop, I had been using openSUSE 10.2 (did not try using VNC on it), and ran the ies4linux package.
This package no longer seems to work on openSUSE 10.3 -- I don't know if it is related to the X11 "bug" or not (it won't launch at all in a VNC window. It does launch on the physical computer, but is missing the URL bar, navigation icons, etc).
