Summary: Symantec LiveUpdate 1.5.2 hangs Product: Wine Version: 1.1.25 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: kennybobs@o2.co.uk
Created an attachment (id=22843) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=22843) Screenshot of affected stage
Symantec LiveUpdate 1.5.2 hangs after the second stage (retrieving available update information), consuming 100% CPU and has to be killed, after the first run.
On second run it hangs during the second stage.
This is the entire console output in both cases: fixme:tapi:lineInitialize (0xa939e4, 0x330000, 0x354c26, "LiveUpdate", 0xa939e0): stub. fixme:tapi:lineShutdown ((nil)): stub.
Same in latest git.
Unfortunately I can not find a download of this version, it is on a NAV 2000 CD.

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-09-07 16:04:41 CDT --- Is this still an issue in current (1.3.2 or newer) wine? Does native tapi/tapi32.dll help?

--- Comment #2 from Ken Sharp kennybobs@o2.co.uk 2010-10-18 09:27:24 CDT --- In Wine 1.3.4 native tapi DLLs make no difference, but when killing the app this is printed in the console:
"Application tried to create a window, but no driver could be loaded."
The application does appear to open a window but nothing gets drawn in it.

No change in wine-1.5.6-32-g00fb537. There is clearly a window created but there is nothing in it.

Hi, Ken. Don't get angry. He is just asking for a retest as the last comment was from 2013 and there is no download available.

On that note, it's now 2018 and we're at 3.13 without an update.
I'll leave it open for now, but if that's still the case in a year (or more) when I check next, I'll mark it abandoned.

That's nice. Meanwhile you can mark all of these as abandoned as they never get updated: https://bugs.winehq.org/buglist.cgi?bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&bug_status=NE...
No change at all in Wine 4.18. Worth waiting for.
The application consumes 100% of one core.
Tried wininet (unimplemented function) and wininet_win2k, no change.
A +relay trace appears to show the application working through the list of applications and update versions, as one might expect. The difference being that it takes seconds under Windows, and yet after an hour under Wine I got bored and killed it.
Could be a severe performance issue rather than an actual hang/crash.
Still can't find a download for this, and it looks like Symantec's FTP has been taken down. I couldn't find a licence for this file either to see if I could redistribute it.
No change.
