recently several of my programs fail when using wine, whenever they try to 
reference the default printer.

I use CUPS and am not aware of changing anything related to printing. 
The same problem occurs for both network and local printers

The non printing parts (BDE database access) of the programs work ok

Non-wine applications print ok.

Everything worked ok until about a month ago.
