Summary: Tarr Chronicles: fails to start Product: Wine Version: 1.1.1 Platform: PC URL: http://www.gamershell.com/download_21082.shtml OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: knan-wine@anduin.net
Created an attachment (id=14927) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=14927) plain console output (wine tarr.exe)
Demo and retail version alike fails to start, with error message dialog: TGameCamera.Tick: Camera Update fault, followed by a floating point exception and wine backtrace. No obvious candidate in plain console output.
Demo is downloadable, and I'm able and willing to run debugging and test patches.

--- Comment #2 from knan-wine@anduin.net 2008-10-15 15:23:47 --- Still there in 1.1.6. No new clues about what could be wrong.

--- Comment #7 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2010-08-29 09:57:20 CDT --- I tried the demo with Wine-1.3.1 and have some good news :)
1. Starting with a clean prefix, the game first stops with an error message: 'GDIFirstLibClass.CreateFont: cant find font' Workaround: 'winetricks corefonts' I guess the missing fonts are the Verdanas.
2. Now the game can get to the loading screen, but throws a series of messages that cannot play the intro videos. Workaround: 'winetricks wmp9 quartz d3dx9' plus a native devenum.dll are needed. (I'm not sure about d3dx9 was really needed).
3. If all went well, you can get to the main screen and the game is playable.
The originally reported error about: 'TGameCamera.Tick: Camera Update fault' was fixed somewhere between 1.1.44 and 1.2. Now we only got the missing font and video codec issues (has workarounds).
Please, check the game with a recent version of Wine, using the mentioned overrides.
p.s.: This is another game, besides Darkstar One, which never worked in Wine in the past. Around the 1.2 version of Wine both game began to work. Good job!

--- Comment #8 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2012-01-02 13:03:32 CST --- The reported problem with that specific error message was fixed a long time ago, somewhere before 1.2, I've just never bothered to find out which commit fixed it.
Marking as fixed.
