Console messages after running calibre portable (the first time without trying
to add a book)

When I try to add a book with calibre portable, it correctly opens the window
that let me choose the file and I can select it, but the the process bar
remains fixed at 0% with no disk operation.

This bug is somehow related to bug #17195.
I couldn't apply the 4 patches in #17195 on recent Wine versions, so I tested
with Wine 1.4.1.
With a patched Wine 1.4.1 adding books to the library works.

@Xwang: you have additional software(drivers) installed. When reporting bugs in
Wine, please always test in a clean wineprefix. 
Apart from that I can confirm the reported problem with Calibre.

Adding books to the library works in 1.7.44, tested with portable calibre 1.48:

Marking fixed.

Converting books still doesn't work in plain 1.7.44, but it does in
wine-staging.

that's bug 27592 which was dupe of bug 17273 (pipe state, sufficient to make a
number of apps happy) and now a dupe of bug 17195 (remaining apps/games needing
more functional implementation/fixes in various areas).

This patchset should make it work:
