Summary: Wine Loader will not install setup program Product: Wine Version: 1.2.2 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: loader AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: skclewis@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=33898) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=33898) Screen output when installing file
I downloaded the setup file for Plants vs Zombies from the Wine ADB site. I saved it on the Desktop. I went to the drive and right clicked the file selecting Open with Wine Loader. When I do, I get an error message saying there is a serious problem with the file and the loader will close. I opened a terminal session and went to Desktop. Attached is the screen output I got when I tried to install using the command line. Please advise what I need to do to correct or fix the problem.

--- Comment #2 from Leah O postscript@sasktel.net 2011-12-25 21:57:26 CST --- I also had this error when launching in 10.04, I had first installed PvsZ using winetriks on Linux Mint 11.04 in which it worked as long as I browsed to it in netbook/.local/share/wineprefix/Plants vs Zombies and clicked on the .exe. Winetriks had an already saved configuration that I could not see the details. I could not run PvsZ from the Desktop Icon or from the .wine folder. When I ran on 10.04 computer I received a similar error to you, I have attached the terminal window and error screen. I tried downloading winetriks but it was not available. I found Q4Wine but I could not find any pre-packaged configurations such as they had in Winetriks. What I did to fix this: copy the working folder from Mint over to mine. Works! I'm sorry that I don't know how to get the configuration into Q4.
I've had some problems with the game during loading, in between levels, and I can not run full screen.

Just a note: this bug report was originally about the installation failure, but seemingly you have problems when starting the already installed game (which is indeed reproducible with the trial version of PvZ, available from Popcap). According to Bugzilla's rules that should go into a separate bug report.

The installation went without issues here, tried with 1.2.3 and 1.3.35.
