Bug ID: 39370 Summary: Crash with Desperados: Wanter Dead or Alive Product: Wine Version: unspecified Hardware: x86-64 OS: Windows Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: dqeswn@gmail.com
Since bug 26875 is fixed I gave Desperados (gog.com version) a go with wineD3D again. Since there are no official builds I tried the ones here http://adolfintel.com/index.php?p=wined3d/index.frag (Tried the oldest and newest builds there)
Although the bug was fixed I was greeted with a crash after I loaded the game. It happens as soon as I move the mouse. Also double clicking to load a game didn't work. So maybe something mouse related? Based on comments the maker of the builds also experienced the crash.

--- Comment #1 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com --- This use case sounds a bit useless for bug reporting - game was modified to use wined3d, wined3d was built externally by someone. I think it only makes sense to report this as wine issue if you have strong evidence for that, like some debugging results, pointing to a deficiency in wine code.

I can't do that. But feel free to try it yourself. It's easy to test game demo, which is no different as far as this bug is concerned.
Here are some links where it can be downloaded: (it's only 91 MB)

game was modified to use wined3d
I just added the wineD3D files to the game folder. Didn't modify any game files. It uses DirectDraw. Also (as far as I can tell) the original demo shows the same issue. (Sorry, I forgot to mention the demo in the OP)

--- Comment #3 from Alessandro Pezzoni alessandro.pezzoni@runbox.com --- This bug isn't present in wine, at least since version 1.7.51.
Just for fun I tried to run the game under windows with those replacement dlls and it does crash. I didn't try renaming ddraw.dll and changing the game's calls to it as described in the readme, though.

--- Comment #4 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com --- This seems out of the project scope. Please report bugs to the DLL builders for Windows. As pointed in comment 3 the issue does not happen in standard Wine.

I fail to see how this is outside the project's scope when you don't provide a build of wined3d/ddraw.dll of "standard Wine". I'd use it if it was available.

Windows is not a supported platform for our dlls (the tests are, however). If they happen to work, great, but if it doesn't, we're not going to spend much effort on it.
