The WINE file dialogs use GNome style, even with a theming engine installed
(qt-curve).

What Gnome style are you talking about? There's no such thing as DE integration
for dialogues, or themes. Themes should be installed separately (a .theme
files), and icons are fixed.

On closer inspection, it seems to mimic a native Windows file dialog more than
anything linux (Gnome/KDE).

OK, I discovered the theming capabilities in WINE, which work quite nicely.

I still feel there should be a default Gnome or KDE theme style, the current
Win95 style is waaay too outdated. Is it worth a new bug report or will that
not be useful?

And I personally think this won't happen, dialogue replacement is impossible
for various reasons, and native themes support probably too.

The only thing Wine can do is to use a color scheme similar to the underlying
WM is using.
