See bug 18658 for the initial crash/workaround (winetricks ie6), though you can
see this before the crash.

When launching a kingsoft office application, it attempts to open a default
template. On wine, it's borks and can't read it's own file (not sure if it
can't read or the file was corrupted on install, though).

The screenshot shows pretty well what I mean.

Still present in wine 1.1.36. Apart from its default file, it also couldn't
read any other .doc file I tried, which makes the app pretty much useless.

In 1.5.1, installs fine. On start, there's no file loaded. Clicking blank new
document/new document from template both have no effect. Opening an existing
.doc file fails similarly.

Appears to be the same bug as before, but without the dialog for unknown file.

Still present in Wine 1.5.22 and latest Kingsoft release (8.1.0.3385). The
spreadsheets program works OK (if a bit slow) but both the writer and
presentation programs fail with 'EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION' error reports.

I see this exact issue in wine 1.3.22 and it works in 1.9.12. Most likely the
bug was tested with a previous version of the software but the issue is the
same with 2012 version.
