VMware-player-3.1.3-324285 Setup only has white screen. From console log i
would guess it's gecko related.

Well this is interesting, without any overrides it showed installer screen. It
wants to download something, but it's unable. The process bar doesnt move.

Installing ie8 via winetricks and starting the installer again = white screen
box like comment #1.

The download link points into different version than the original issue was,
but this feels similar in behaviour.

The gui shows itself, but it overdrawn by something. Somekind of focus issue?

Fresh prefix the installer hangs someway doing nothing. winetricks -q ie8 seems
to help, but it makes the installer all white. Like comment 1.

wine 1.9.20-git.

Wine 8.9 doesn't have the white screen issue anymore, but progressbar hangs.
With winetricks ie8 it get's much further, so likely really gecko related.
