As far as resolving this bug. IMO Wine should use the native version that is supplied by the app but it does not. This is similar to bug 3759 (for SimCity 3000) which is resolved fixed and closed http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3759#c6

While this is probably abug in our implimentation of msvcrt.dll it might be that the program supplied version is truly different from native windows.
What version of windows did you get the native dll from?
