this is a driver for my USB wireless adapter in my desktop computer
the computer is too far from my modem for me to make a wired connection
and the Linux OS (LinuxMINT) does not detect the ADAPTER even if i take it out
and put it back in again.

when i try to install the windows driver using wine
during installation, this error appears:

the error window has a CLOSE button at the bottom, when i close it the same
exact error appears 3 more times, then he installation continues normally and
even gives me the option to restart the system.

OBVIOUSLY THE DRIVER DID NOT INSTALL PROPERLY AND DOES NOT WORK

i really need the driver to work, the USB wireless adapter is the only way i
will be able to access internet on my desktop computer. it is two floors away
from my modem so i cannot use an Ethernet cable.

Windows drivers won't work under wine, you might try ndiswrapper.

This ticket has not been updated for over 900 days. Development recommends
to check the status on your bug every release or two and let to be known if the
bug is still present. If not, mark it fixed. If you are no longer able to put
effort to this ticket, you can abandon it.

Is this still an issue with 1.7.4 or higher ?

Hello folks,

I can't reproduce the crash, installs fine here.

Prerequisite: 'winetricks -q mfc42'

As already said, installing this software/drivers is completely pointless, this
can't work by design.

$ sha1sum RTL8192U_InstallPackage.zip 
3b0249634fa5af6f7015a1540dd0440bc9fc6627  RTL8192U_InstallPackage.zip

$ du -sh RTL8192U_InstallPackage.zip 
17M    RTL8192U_InstallPackage.zip

$ wine --version
wine-1.7.23
