Microcat tries to use a dingle to a start-up. As I have an old version the
dongle is replaced by a crack. This works fine under Windows but stops Wine
when run under Ubuntu Linux.

Until this latest release Microcat would not work at all.

This is invalid. Do not run programs directly from windows partition.
Dongles won't work on Wine because Wine can not access USB devices directly.

Also it looks like something tries to use VxD driver. They can not be and will
not be supported on Wine. If you even remotely want get this program working,
don't use win9x windows versions (set via winecfg).
