Also a Cubase log is attached but really point the clean C:\windows\system32\comdlg32.dll
This look very much like this old issue: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12714
I would like to stick with offical Debian package, since get default depenencies with for instance Install-wine-deps.sh is not supported yet for Wheezy. Moreover this is just a Music machine, not supposed to do any development.
Looking forward what will happen here. Many thanks in anticipation.
Best regards, JL

--- Comment #1 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com --- You should really try with wine 1.7.3x first on that machine or any other, 1.4.x is very old and unsupported.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37745
--- Comment #2 from Jean-Louis Crouzet jeanlouis.crouzet@free.fr --- Thanks for this input (but if it's the same problem as related in my entry it won't help trying this version) moreover guess what this is on Wheezy the only defacto version supported via official packages...
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37745
--- Comment #3 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com --- Wine 1.4 is no longer supported, as you can read at [1] one of the rules to report bugs is:
•You are using the latest development version of Wine (not stable) (See downloads for information on how to get the latest).

--- Comment #4 from Jean-Louis Crouzet jeanlouis.crouzet@free.fr --- Created attachment 50260 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=50260 This what is hapenning when trying to install upstream for Wheezy...
OK, I tried to install the i386 packages as you pointed me... Just attaching the log for reference.
Q) Does it mean I shall move to unstable Wheezy to get this done?

That is a question you should ask in the Debian forums/irc. They will give proper directions on what to do to solve your problem.

--- Comment #6 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- 1.7.15 is still too old for testing; the current development release is 1.7.33. You will probably have to build it yourself; AFAIK, there are no up-to-date Wine packages for Wheezy (but if you find one, please let me know where).
This look very much like this old issue: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12714
If it's really the same issue, this bug will just end up being closed as a duplicate.

Thanks to all for your time and patience, I started wine two days ago and from the very first steps I was happy (Cubase almost running with ASIO setup done...). But today I have to admit that the horizon looks different ;-)
Again, thanks and I leave future of this entry to whom may decide about it !
Regards, JL
PS: Still polling anyway...

--- Comment #8 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- Have you tried the workaround mentioned in bug 12714 (set the Windows version to NT 3.5)? You can try that even in your old Wine version, and if it solves the problem with Cubase, we can mark this as a duplicate. If it doesn't work, we at least know this is not the same issue.

Hello Rosanne,
Yes, I did try with version NT 3.5 from install to launch the apps but no chance, still failing same place. I also did a lot of winetrick play around with dll and so on but again none of the combination used worked. Of course I googled a lot on this topic or similar one.
Thanks, JL

--- Comment #10 from Jean-Louis Crouzet jeanlouis.crouzet@free.fr --- FYI I tested wine 1.6.1 under Unbuntu i686 SMP 3.2.0-072-generic-PAE #107 machine using same steps with particular caution during install. I tried numerous combination (NT, 7, XP default) but they all fail to the same point.
It's a shame since I'm able to play VST Instruments on multi tracks and even save the song file. Only Audio related attempt with file dialog box fail.

--- Comment #11 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- 1.6.1 is also too old. You have to test this in the latest development release. Ubuntu has up-to-date Wine packages.
