1.7.53 is not recent (or supported anymore).

Please retest in 1.9.19.

It doesn't crash for me any longer on startup with the patch at bug 32515 (it
always did for me prior).

Since that patch that supports Valve's copy protection didn't exist until last
month, and this bug report was opened in September last year, this has to be a
duplicate. :)
