Hello,

most likely bug 14875 (remember bug 18538 ?) ;-)
Have a look at:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=11022
and see if the VS.NET 2008 installer error log
("c:\windows\temp\dd_error_vc_*.txt") contains information about the error.

I see this too (with VS2008ProEdition90dayTrialENUX1435622.iso,
sha1sum dfb601096f62fd75af6ad62b277be79793f53b56),
and both our logs look like bug 14785.
