wineprefixcreate is deprecated. Use wineboot instead.
To be sure, try: $ mv ~/.wine ~/.wine.bak $ wineboot $ wine setup.exe

--- Comment #7 from . splatadder@gmail.com 2008-06-14 13:15:03 --- Tried the steps mentioned by Austin. In order to run setup, I must install some packages with winetricks:
~$ winetricks.sh -v dotnet20 fontfix gdiplus msxml3 msxml4 msxml6 vcrun2005sp1 vcrun2008 allfonts winxp volnum
Nonetheless, the result was the same "insufficient privileges".
Please tell me if you need aditional info. Thanks!!

Good FSM! Why so much native stuff? Have you filed bugs for the msxml/gdiplus/font stuff?
Is there a demo of this?

--- Comment #12 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-06-14 14:44:22 --- Also, terminal output without +warn would be helpful. It's easier to read, and +warn typically is too verbose.

--- Comment #13 from . splatadder@gmail.com 2008-06-14 17:08:25 --- Well, first of all let me state that I'm kind of new to wine... Trying to install Toad with a bare wine setup, I get a "no space available" error. The other day I found a howto on installing MsOffice2007, where they installed all that native stuff, and decided, why not... Then I got to the "insufficient privileges" error.
Is there some documentation on how to debug this kind of situation?
Menawile, I'll upload a log without the +warn.
A trial of Toad is available at: http://www.quest.com/Toad-DBA-Suite-for-Oracle/software-downloads.aspx (registration is required)

Can you retest and outline exact steps used on clean WINEPREFIX? I downloaded ToadDBASuiteforOracle_972_2.exe (9.7.2) and can't reproduce this "insufficient privileges" problem (wine-1.1.10-372-g704f9ea). That installer has other issues that are partly covered by other bugs.
Current prerequisites for the installer: 'winetricks dotnet20 msxml4 vcrun6 vb6run'
(vcrun6 and vb6run because some COM servers won't self register without the runtimes)

Can't reproduce with 9.7.2
I suggest to close this one. A lot of time has passed and I seriously doubt the original reason the bug was opened for is still present. As already said: the installer still has some issues that are partly covered by other bugs (when doing full install of all features of commercial version)
I found a download link to commercial suite 9.7.2 here:
