I just use the free German version at the moment. Thanks for your help in advance.

This is bugzilla it collects bugs - things that do not work. If you looking for Wine support refer to forum.

--- Comment #9 from GingerBreadSeb sbstn.gttl@gmail.com --- In Wine 1.6.2 one is able to install Ludwig 3 (at least the CDRom version). But during installation the terminal window displays some warnings (see attached log file). If one starts Ludwig by double clicking the created desktop icon, Wine reports a crasg (see attached backtrace file).
I am novice to Wine. I was just checking whether some for me essential Windows-only apps are working under Lubuntu.

You should use 1.7 series of wine.
So much has changed since 1.6.
See winehq download section how to get newer.

--- Comment #13 from Michael Stefaniuc mstefani@redhat.com --- The patch that supports the IKsControl interface for the SynthPort is in as 883fe110ea5225c515c38bdd1e67f65cdeca4609 . I need to check but I assume the other patch from Staging is needed too to resolve this bug.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30105
--- Comment #14 from Michael Stefaniuc mstefani@winehq.org --- The remaining patch in Staging is not related to this bug as it is for IDirectMusicBuffer_PackUnstructured(). Ludwig3 is not using any IDirectMusicBuffer stuff before it crashes. At least not in the latest version from Nov 2012 sha1sum Ludwig3Setup.msi 44155cc618d3f01a5c79cb3a9cdf2f2e6a1528c5 Ludwig3Setup.msi
Anyway, Ludwig3 is crashing also with native dmusic and dsdmo. It seems to really want the gm.dls: 0009:trace:dmloader:IDirectMusicLoaderImpl_GetObject (0x167dc0)->(0x33f728, IID_IDirectMusicCollection, 0xfee528) 0009:trace:dmloader:dump_DMUS_OBJECTDESC DMUS_OBJECTDESC (0x33f728): 0009:trace:dmloader:dump_DMUS_OBJECTDESC - dwSize = 848 0009:trace:dmloader:dump_DMUS_OBJECTDESC - dwValidData = DMUS_OBJ_OBJECT DMUS_OBJ_CLASS 0009:trace:dmloader:dump_DMUS_OBJECTDESC - guidClass = CLSID_DirectMusicCollection 0009:trace:dmloader:dump_DMUS_OBJECTDESC - guidObject = {f17e8673-c3b4-11d1-870b-00600893b1bd} 0009:trace:dmloader:IDirectMusicLoaderImpl_GetObject : looking if we have object in the cache or if it can be found via alias 0009:trace:dmloader:IDirectMusicLoaderImpl_GetObject : no cache/alias entry found for requested object 0009:fixme:dmloader:IDirectMusicLoaderImpl_GetObject : unknown/unsupported way of loading 0009:trace:seh:raise_exception code=e06d7363 flags=1 addr=0x7b43b7fc ip=7b43b7fc tid=0009

What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|STAGED |RESOLVED Fixed by SHA1| |883fe110ea5225c515c38bdd1e6 | |7f65cdeca4609 Resolution|--- |FIXED
--- Comment #15 from Michael Stefaniuc mstefani@winehq.org --- Ok, Ludwig3 really needs a c:/windows/system32/drivers/gm.dls (winetricks gmdls) and will crash if it doesn't gets it. The other crash was due to the missing IKsControl interface which was fixed by 883fe110ea5225c515c38bdd1e67f65cdeca4609.
Anyway the second patch from Staging was submitted too https://source.winehq.org/patches/data/133404
