Bug #: 30953 Summary: Grand Theft Auto Vice City does not start (I must disable winegstreamer to make it work) Product: Wine Version: 1.5.6 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: winegstreamer AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: tirili_@fastmail.fm Classification: Unclassified
I'm running 32-bit Slackware 13.37 on a Samsung Melroi R510 (64-bit cpu).
When I try running the game Grand Theft Auto Vice City by typing
wine gta-vc.exe
I get a long list of errors (maybe repeating?), which I added as an attachment, and the game does not start.
If I disable winegstreamer using winecfg, the game starts though.
Maybe this problem is caused only by old packages included in Slackware?

This is only the beginning of the bash output but I'm think the rest is not important and only repetitions.

Created attachment 40612 [details] This is the beginning of the bash output of wine written into a file.
This is only the beginning of the bash output but I'm think the rest is not important and only repetitions.
The output with winegstreamer would be more useful.

--- Comment #4 from vanyasmart@gmail.com 2012-12-16 07:41:21 CST --- I have the same problem with Wine 1.5.19 on 64-bit Arch with Intel GMA 950 video.
I run nocd version of gta-vc.exe in virtual desktop.
Output is empty.
I'm sorry, but how to disable winegstreamer?

--- Comment #5 from tirili_@fastmail.fm 2013-01-14 09:53:21 CST --- You can disable winegstreamer taking the following steps:
Start winecfg with your normal user account in a command line.
Click "libraries", insert the word winegstreamer into the box "New override for library:" and click "Add". Then click on "Edit", "Disable", "OK". Then click "Apply" and you're done. You can also do it for single applications only by adding the desired application under "Applications", selecting it there and following the same instructions from above.
