Decided to start giving PC-BSD a try, since it's the only BSD that will actually install for me. This is in a virtualbox VM, and I've set all the setting to be exactly the same as the ones I use for the Feisty VM I usually test in at work.
Doing so, there are quite a few BSD specific bugs. I'm going to try to find all the differences in make test and file those first...
First up, iphplapi fails in BSD, but not Ubuntu. +iphplapi log attached. Not sure what component is closest...

--- Comment #1 from Juan Lang juan_lang@yahoo.com 2008-04-28 10:55:42 --- There should be an iphlpapi component for this. Also, I'm not sure the summary quite captures the problem. It's true that the test fails, but in this case that's expected: there are pieces of iphlpapi that are unimplemented on PC-BSD.
Is there some sort of Linux compatibility you can enable? A lot this can be fixed with a /proc filesystem, which FreeBSD can emulate.

--- Comment #2 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-04-28 12:02:27 --- Not sure, I'm new to PCBSD. I like to try new things and since BSD gets ignored by wine often, figured I'd help.
I'm cc'ing Kris, the PC-BSD maintainer. Hopefully he can provide better input.

The very first open issue is this exact problem, Can you add Eric Durbin eadurbin@gmail.com to the CC list on this. He's going to be doing a SoC project to address this specific issue, and he can probably comment further.

This bug should be fixed now with current git.
I was getting ready to test, but upon upgrade of my vm from PCBSD 1.5 to PCBSD 7, I can't get the virtual network card to work. Haven't had time to investigate why, but none of virtualbox's cards seem to work in 7. IIRC, 1.5 took quite a bit of fiddling as well. I'll try to get a VM going sometime in the next couple days to test with. If anyone else could test, that'd be great.
