Perhaps Wine's TrueType engine is corrupting memory when loading the new Freefont version in Debian unstable. Marc Haber reports:
"when ttf-freefont 20080323-2, I cannot write usenet posts with Forte Agent running in wine: After hitting "F)ollowup", the application freezes. "P)ost" works.
After going back to the ttf-freefont from testing, things are fine again."
There's a backtrace in the Debian bug report (follow the URL link), but I suppose you'll want to ask for logs too?
