Summary: /etc/hosts modification for DirectPlay Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc1 Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: dan_500@web.de
You need (amongst others) to modify /etc/hosts to play multiplayer with DirectPlay. You need to set your hostname to your local ip adress instead of the loopback address. You should come up with a good solution to this that doesn't require people changing their /etc/hosts file. It should work "out-of-the-box". Please!

--- Comment #2 from Juan Lang juan_lang@yahoo.com 2008-05-22 09:59:57 --- This is a bug that should be fixed with your distro, not with wine. The way that apps query the local IP address is broken in Windows too (it just happens to work more often there.)

Should I make a bug report at all ditris with this host file?
It's not a problem for wine to fix. So yes, file a bug with your distribution.
