Bug ID: 36956 Summary: Galactic Civilizations II (Dark Avatar/Twilight of Arnor) renders strange polygons on ships Product: Wine Version: 1.7.22 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: NEW Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: gyebro69@gmail.com
Created attachment 49067 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=49067 terminal output
The two expansions to the base game introduced a new rendering option 'Enhanced ship rendering'. When this option is enabled strange polygons appear on the ship models as can be seen in the attached screenshot. The demo version of GalCiv II doesn't have this option.
The same problem with Wine 1.4.1/1.6.2/1.7.22 Tested with the open source Nouveau and the binary Nvidia drivers, both show the problem.
Disabling GLSL or pixel shaders doesn't help.
Fedora 20 Nvidia 250 gfx card / Nvidia binary drivers 340.24

--- Comment #2 from Yanis Lukes Pendrokar@gmail.com --- I have the same problem with Ubuntu 14.04 x86_64 and Wine 1.7.22. Graphics card - NVIDIA Geforce 9600GT NVIDIA binary driver 337.25

--- Comment #3 from Yanis Lukes Pendrokar@gmail.com --- Bug #28041 is the same as this, but the fix claimed there probably didn't change anything as the 'Enhanced ship rendering' is not mentioned. So the one that claimed this issue fixed with a newer Wine version probably had the option turned of.

--- Comment #4 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.51 or newer) wine?

Still in wine-1.7.51-48-ge28d6b2.
Those polygons are missing when native dxdiagn.dll is installed.

--- Comment #7 from gregor gregor.gorjan@gmail.com --- The bug is still present in Kubuntu 18.04. turning off the "Enhanced ship rendering" helps it, however i am not sure how this will affect game play. In any case this can not be platinum rating.
