I am experiencing the same compile problems with both 20020605 and 20020710.
RH 7.3 (Valhalla) Kernel 2.4.18-3 on an i686
# gcc --version 2.96
# perl --version This is perl, v5.6.1 built for i686-linux-thread-multi-ld
