Summary: Overlord 2 - Screen doubles/flickers Product: Wine Version: 1.1.32 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: klinnem@gmail.com
In the upper left quarter of the screen a "condensed" version of the whole screens appears flickering. It starts with the main menu but appears within the game also -- but it's relatively hard to capture, so I have just a pic of the menu. Ingame it appears mostly by looking around. Everything else with the game seems to work completely fine (Steam Version). Without this Problem it would be playable.

I tried to test it under Overlords2 demo.
On nvidia cards Overlords2 requires PhysiX (which is installed together with the game), but when trying to run the game, it complains about missing nvidia's nvcuda.dll. I took that file from WinXP and put it into windows/system32. Then the demo runs without reported problem. Maybe demo is not affected or does not happen on nvidia8600 v190.42?

To complete my report... Demo works for me on following versions: * 1.1.32 * 1.1.33 * 1.1.33-259-g7782ebe
@klinnem> Could you try if you see reported problem also on demo?

Does an empty file/stub dll work in place of nvcuda.dll? Or does it need the full DLL?

--- Comment #6 from klinnem@gmail.com 2009-11-20 09:57:33 --- I had not been able to install the Demo via Steam, it won't show up in the mygames list.
Instead I did a fresh clean steam install (via playonlinux).
THIS "FIXED" THE SCREEN CORRUPTION.
So I assume that either Overlord1 Files or some winetricks-installed codecs/features collide with Overlord2. The fact that different from Overlord1 Overlord2 has complete sounds even without wmp installed may give a hint to the heart of the problem.
I consider this not being a general problem any more, but the consequence of a somehow messed up wineprefix-environment.

Nothing was fixed in wine.
of course, thanks for adjusting definitions.

To finish my report - hope it is allowed to post to CLOSED bug report and hope that posting will not reopen again...

No nvcuda.dll in windows/system32:
err:module:import_dll Library nvcuda.dll (which is needed by L"C:\Program Files\AGEIA Technologies\v2.8.1\PhysXCore.dll") not found
cd windows/system32; touch nvcuda.dll
err:module:import_dll Loading library nvcuda.dll (which is needed by L"C:\Program Files\AGEIA Technologies\v2.8.1\PhysXCore.dll") failed (error c0000020).
So empty file does not work :-/ But works with full DLL :-)
