Summary: Failed install of Sage MAS 500 Product: Wine Version: 1.1.6 Platform: All OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: lumberjackshaw@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=16804) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=16804) Output files from various install attempts
I have run the Sage MAS 500 install in wine 1.1.6 from a clean install as well as with different winetricks options. I have attached several different output files from wine and have listed the installed options in the first line of each file. I was not able to find a combination that allowed the install to finish. Adding the winetricks allowed the install to proceed a little farther where it freezes. The best configuration I was able to find was outputted to wine1.1.6-winetricks4.log and used dotnet20, vb6run, vcrun6, vcrun2003, vcrun2005, wsh56.
I am relatively new to linux. If you would like me to run further tests please give me detailed instructions and I will do my best.

Please use a clean ~/.wine, with no winetricks options and attach the output.
That was the first thing I tried. The wine1.1.6.log in the attachment is the results from that test.

--- Comment #4 from Joshua A. Shaw lumberjackshaw@gmail.com 2008-10-31 09:24:32 --- Unfortunately, there is not. I will check with my consultants to see we can provide a test copy without endangering any support contracts.

--- Comment #5 from Joshua A. Shaw lumberjackshaw@gmail.com 2008-12-03 13:21:10 --- I have contacted the software vendor and they have given me permission to release a copy of the client for developement purposes. The zipped file is 200mb so I cannot attach it here or email it. I would rather not post the file on a public server. If you have any suggestions on how I will gladdly provide a copy.
Thanks

--- Comment #6 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-06-02 10:37:38 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.22 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #7 from Joshua A. Shaw lumberjackshaw@gmail.com 2009-06-02 15:21:12 --- This is still a current issue. The situation has improved. Winetricks is required. You can further reduce errors by installing ms installer 3.1. The application will still not install.

--- Comment #9 from Joshua A. Shaw lumberjackshaw@gmail.com 2009-06-03 15:50:00 --- Upon further testing I have managed to get the application to install using a different cocktail of winetricks installs and MS installs. The following will allow the application to install but not run. I be posting attachments for the errors generated at run time momentarily.
sh winetricks corefonts dotnet11 dotnet20 fontfix gecko tahoma vb6run vcrun6 vcrun2003 vcrun2005 vcrun2005sp1 wsh56.
You must also download and install the redistributable MSI 3.1. http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/4/7/147ded26-931c-4daf-9095-ec7baf9...
Make sure you do not use winetricks to install msi2 or comctl32 they will crash the msi 3.1 installer.

--- Comment #10 from Joshua A. Shaw lumberjackshaw@gmail.com 2009-06-03 16:06:05 --- Created an attachment (id=21529) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=21529) Output data from an attempt to run the MAS500 Application
This is the output from an attempt to run MAS500 after a hairy install. Reference Comment #9 The following actions were taken to generate the output. The application was started. A Error is generated The program continues to load and successfully creates a systray icon. The initial settings windows appears very tiny (icon size). After playing with the window I was able to get it a visible state. It does not matter what settings you set. Nothing works from here forward except a right click on the application systray icon to select shutdown Business Desktop.
