Bug ID: 51143 Summary: Dragon NaturallySpeaking does not install with "CheckForElevationState" return 1602 Product: Wine Version: 6.6 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: msi Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: susancragin@earthlink.net Distribution: ---
Created attachment 70013 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=70013 Installation log
I am trying to install Dragon Naturally Speaking 12.5 on a new Gentoo install. I have done this successfully in the past, on both Debian and Gentoo installs, one on this machine.
But now I keep getting this error, which is a Microsoft error saying that I have terminated the installation.
err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"CheckForElevationState" returned 1602
When I try to install Dragon Naturally Speaking 15 Home, it quits with the same error. (Natspeak 15 does not install successfully, but usually quits with an error much further in the installation process.
However, when I install Notepad++ that works. That may be just because there are no MSIs with it.

--- Comment #1 from Zebediah Figura z.figura12@gmail.com --- Please mention next time when you are running wine-staging; this is almost certainly a wine-staging bug.

--- Comment #2 from Zebediah Figura z.figura12@gmail.com --- Can you please attach a log with WINEDEBUG=+msi,+pid,+server? (You may need to compress it.)

File too big to attach, even compressed. This link should work.

--- Comment #4 from SusanCragin susancragin@earthlink.net --- I had posted my problem on a forum, and the responder suggested I try installing Naturally Speaking 12.5 on Windows XP, using a 32-bit wineprefix.
I did that, and it worked.

In general this isn't recommended, it has a high chance of breaking.
Anyway, it looks like this installer wants the custom action server to run elevated, and somehow isn't satisfied with assuming that's the case like all the other installers I've seen.
This should be fixed by wine-staging commit 180ba8c931678ade002f47932e01cf6660b9efee.
