After installing, the Imvu login window appears. As soon as you sign in, an
error pops up, stating that a critical error involving
''Devicefingerprint_old.exe''has occured. Then, the imvu logo remains on teh
top bar in Ubuntu 11.10, but will not open the main window. I left it like this
for an entire night (about 9 hours) and it did not open, so it is not a matter
of slow loading. Also, i tried setting the installer, client exe and quality
agent to run on different versions of windows, none of which helped. i also
tried changing the d3dx9_43 library to wine only. Nothing worked. Previous
versions of IMVU simply crash before the login window. Ive tried re-installing
different versions of wine and imvu, and have reinstalled ubuntu 4 times.

The Logfile of the IMVU-Client

The File is the Logfile of the IMVU-Client. You can find the following there,
everytime IMVU crashes: pywintypes.error: (317, 'LoadLibrary', 'Meldung 0x%1
nicht in Datei %2 gefunden')

Means that report 0x%1 is not found in File %2.

devicefingerprint_old.exe bug

I get a program error every time I try to run imvu: "The program
devicefingerprint_old.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to
close." I've tried different versions, but for now this seems to keep
happening. Please help! Also IMVU constantly crashes and I've never gotten past
the login screen.i have reinstalled wine and all of its components several
times through the ubuntu software center and i keep getting the same result
constantly!

Wine generated backtrace log

Get this with Wine 1.4 from PPA for Ubuntu, with IMVU 469; after that, we get a
message box saying that the login/password is incorrect, and then we are
returned to the login dialog.

Correction: the login/password I entered was indeed incorrect! Actually, after
the pagefault, the application simply hangs like previous versions (the icon
keeps showing in the notifications bar, but no window anymore and no menu when
clicking on the icon).

I get the error from the bug, then it hangs.  The error shows a force close,
but I am not sure if it is force closing the devicefingerprint_old.exe or IMVU
itself.

The latest version seems to be a re-write. Can someone with an old (preferably
the version originally reported) please re-test in Wine 1.7.47 or later?

The older version no longer connects to the service (tested with 467), current
version 530 works fine (login, avatar, chat). Resolving abandoned as no longer
reproducible.
