Bug ID: 55525 Summary: MyPhoneExplorer 2.0 crashes in WINE 8.0 Product: Wine Version: 8.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: schadw@googlemail.com Distribution: ---
I've been using MyPhoneExplorer2.0 a long time with WINE 5.0.3 under debian bullseye (11.7). Now I upgraded to debian 12.1 (bookworm); this is accompanied by an upgrade of WINE to 8.0. In WINE 8.0 MyPhoneExplorer doesn't start, it crashes at once with a fatal error.
In my environment I can't test step by step: + WINE 8.0 can't be installed under bullseye + Wine 5.0.3 can't be installed under bookworm

--- Comment #3 from Alex Henrie alexhenrie24@gmail.com --- The app doesn't crash on me, but I had to run `winetricks vb6run` before it would start. Have you tried moving or deleting ~/.wine and starting over in a new Wine bottle?

--- Comment #4 from Titan schadw@googlemail.com --- Sorry, I've been out for a while.
So, Alex's hint is the solution - I didn't notice, that the former activated vb6run inside winetricks has to be reawakened after system's and/or WINE's upgrade.
Thanks a lot ... and have a successful time.

--- Comment #5 from Alex Henrie alexhenrie24@gmail.com --- Glad to hear it!
I'm changing this bug's resolution to INVALID because it was not a bug in Wine.
