I suspect this is because of some GetLastError() incompatibility between Win9x and NT-based versions (doh!). (and ISTR that someone recently changed/"fixed" something there, and maybe he "over-fixed" it ;) I'll try to come up with a small test program and run it on various versions to see what the various results should be.
