I downloaded a trial copy of Acrobat Pro 7 from the winsoft.eu website listed
here:

http://wiki.winehq.org/AdobeAcrobatPro

It fails to install with this msgbox error:

Exception raised

Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x004f004b at address 0x7ee31443
  Do you wish to debug it?

It should be noted, by the way, that quite a few users report installation of
their (presumably full) version is quite OK. This might be just a trial version
problem.

Hmmm... after setup fails, I tried to run wine from my .wine directory, where
it sort of kind of installed. A wine icon was added to my desktop, but when I
tried to launch the application a msgbox informs me:

No valid Acrobat serial number found. Acrobat will now quit.

Running the install in wine 0.9.60 with the PreloaderPageZeroProblem workaround
in place produces somewhat different errors. Here's how the tail of how it
fails in console:

This is not a bug in msi.  The Spooler service times out when initializing.

According to James, also affects 3d Studio Max 9 trial (mentioned in bug
12597); he thinks the service code needs lots of love.  Since this affects
multiple popular apps, and is a core part of Windows, I'm belatedly nominating
this for 1.0 even though it will probably be deferred anyway.

The spooler service is only a stub. I fleshed it out a bit so that it can at
least start and stop.
