--- Comment #1 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net 2013-06-06 21:47:39 CDT --- I can't reproduce this. The Powerpoint Viewer currently available for download from Microsoft installs and runs fine on my system, even when installed to a 64 bit wineprefix. Text does not display without the override for riched20, but that's bug 14980.

--- Comment #7 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.37 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.37 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).

Works here under wine-1.7.46-193-g8b566b1 and PowerPoint2010.
After changing to Vista, i run PowerPoint 2010. Powerpoint splash screen appers for a longer time, then it automaticaly run setup reconfiguration process and at the end i'm told, that system needs to be rebooted and PowerPoint is then automaticaly started (and runs under Vista).

--- Comment #13 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- Reopening. This bug is about Powerpoint Viewer, downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=13, not the full version of Powerpoint.
It is still present in wine-1.7.46-193-g8b566b1. With the Windows version set to Vista or 7, the app now pops up an error message that says "An error occurred while opening the file dialog. Please save your presentations, exit, and then restart Powerpoint." It works fine in XP mode.

The reason are following stubs:
IFileDialogCustomize::MakeProminent()
Source: https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/blob/2afbf9dbbcc56f686c35be03557cabf9...
MSDN: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb775914%28v=vs.85%...

The file selection dialog is shown after those stubs (semi) are implemented.

--- Comment #16 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com --- SetControlItemState() for menus and comboboxes was implemented with http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/068a6c7a5f3c93988e5453c1357a33e... and http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/8d8e75849f9f342d3c48cbac6709a7f....
MakeProminent() returns S_OK now after http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/9068f2d10cac2b95ae1e983a8171b20... (but doesn't do anything yet).
Please retest, this could as well be enough for PPT Viewer 2010.

--- Comment #17 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- Tested in 1.8 with the Windows version set to Vista; Powerpoint Viewer starts and can open ppt and pptx files. Some files just display a blank screen (lots of gdiplus fixmes in the console), but that's a separate issue.
Marking fixed.
