Summary: Steam: UI elements that use Flash flicker and have grey bars Product: Wine Version: 1.1.3 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: piekarzarkadiusz@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=15747) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=15747) Screenshot of Steam store with bugged Flash banner
I installed Steam and Adobe Flash player through Wine. Now when I launch Steam and go to Store tab, there is a banner which should display games and fade in and out while changing images. Instead, it flickers and have grey bars.
I tried Flash Player v9 and v10rc - same results.

Works fine here. Can you try using fresh WINEPREFIX for steam?
I just did that, I deleted ~/.wine and reinstalled Steam and Adobe Flash Player and I got the same bug.

--- Comment #5 from Arkadiusz Piekarz piekarzarkadiusz@gmail.com 2008-09-01 06:02:39 --- I installed Adobe Flash Player 10 RC on my laptop and launched Steam - and I can see the same bug as on my desktop computer. I have Ati Radeon Mobility x2300 on laptop and Geforce 8800GT on desktop.

--- Comment #6 from Arkadiusz Piekarz piekarzarkadiusz@gmail.com 2008-09-03 09:40:06 --- Doing
wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks sh winetricks gecko
partially solved the problem. Now in Steam flash elements no longer flicker nor have grey bars, but the fading animation is not perfect. Only the upper part of the pictures fades in and out correctly, the lower part changes rapidly or flickers while changing. Tested with Adobe Flash Player 9.0.124.0 and 10 RC.

--- Comment #7 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-03-10 15:05:17 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.16 or newer) wine?

Can comfirm similar, but worse(all grey - see attachment). Wine 1.1.17 using fresh WINEPREFIX and "winetricks gecko flash". Though flash in for example "wine iexplore http://www.youtube.com" works for me, but not "wine iexplore http://store.steampowered.com/%22(but in native linux-firefox).

--- Comment #9 from speedator Speedator@gmx.de 2009-03-25 17:57:02 --- Well, Vitaliy how does this depends on 16895? First of all you set it to PC-x86-64. That's probably your testing system, right? Because I can't find anything here said about 64 bit and I get problems here on 32 bit, too.
And as I wrote I only can confirm problems with steam-store and others(youtube, adobe tv, lots of other banner and http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/samples/ (some samples slower than in linux-firefox)) work for me with "wine iexplore".
I don't want to offend you. You probably know much more about it. But that's why I ask, I can't get it completely. Would be very kind to clarify this for me.

--- Comment #10 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2009-03-25 21:33:20 --- Flash doesn't work at all with new gecko. Any former bugs with flash depends on flash working first.

This bug is blocked by another bug. Austin, please don't ask to check something that can not be verified.
The bug had no activity for 6 months, it's a semi-automated ping.
A simple 'yes, still a problem' is all you need to put. Or some other activity before 6 months goes by.

--- Comment #16 from Arkadiusz Piekarz piekarzarkadiusz@gmail.com 2010-05-27 17:37:45 --- Steam has been updated to new UI, in which Flash elements work properly. Since its nearly impossible now to test the old UI, because Steam updates itself automatically, I'll close this bug as abandoned.
