[Bug 12536] New: Dawn of War Installer doesnt ask for CD key

The Warhammer 40k Dawn of War installer does not ask when using latest git
(fresh .wine folder) for the CD key nor creates any reg keys after the
installation is finished, if i copy the reg keys manually to wine registry
after i exported them
from windows i can play online.

The Installer simply starts copying the files.

the problem is not a regression, it is still present since i tried to install
dawn of war for the first time 2 years ago.

it seems that the installer of the main game (dawn of war) is different
(older?)
to the addons.

I was able to install DoW-Dark Crusade and DoW-Soulstorm flawlessly.
(asked for CD Key and started fine)

According to APPDB im not the only one who has this problem with the
old DoW since it seems to be a common practice to extract the
Registry Keys from a windows installation and importing it into wine registry.

maybe you should take a further look into this.

Works perfectly well for me.  This is with the original DoW 3-disk install. 
Have you tried to install your copy in Windows to see if it asks for a cd key? 
There are several versions of this game/installer, and some versions have the
cd key programmed into the installer.  On top of that, you still haven't done
what we've asked you to do.

yes it works flawlessly with windows,
right now i exported the reg keys and entered them manually in wine registry.

this way it works but it is not acceptable i think.

I can confirm that I have the same problem with DoW intaller as it doesn't ask
for cd-key, just starts to install right away.

The problem seems to occur on older installer, when I tried newer installer, it
asked cd-key properly.

Can't even patch the game with the older installation.

Removing deprecated CVS/GIT version tag. Please retest in current git. If the
bug is still present in today's wine, but was not present in some earlier
version of wine, please update version field to earliest known version of wine

Confirming that the DVD version of DC starts installing w/o asking for a cd key
during the installation.

Also its able to log at online MP

I also have this problem with Dawn of War GOTY edition. After running the
install, it just goes ahead and installs the game, no prompts for choosing the
install location or entering the cd key or anything. It installs successfully
but in the registry the cd key is set to 0000-0000-0000-0000. Using wine 1.1.22
and Ubuntu 8.10.

Hi Austin, I just tried to install from the 3 CD version with wine 1.1.41.

The installer asks for the serial number now, IMHO this bug can be closed.
