--- Comment #1 from Jeff Zaroyko jeffz@jeffz.name 2009-07-20 05:36:16 --- I don't see why this is major. It's a one time only thing and most browsers will save your password if you let them. Making a single login seems like unnecessary work. As the reporter you are already cc'd on changes, no need to add yourself.

why other platform?
Then specify your one, you definitely haven't tested an all of them.

Site login is platform-depended?
That's a common thing for all bug reports to not assume that everyone else (including your slippers) has the same problem, and limit the report to your own configuration.

--- Comment #6 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2009-07-20 08:10:06 --- I personally do not want to have the same logon on appdb, forum, bugzilla, wiki.
Combining AppDB & forum login seems more useful then giving all forum users bugzilla account.

--- Comment #7 from HennR hennr@hennr.name 2011-02-05 16:09:38 CST --- I really would like to have a single sign on for all winehq.org services like bugzilla, forum, appdb and the wiki.
It would be so much more convenient and less confusing than the current procedure.
Also I don't think that it will hurt if everybody gets a bugzilla account, most of the user will not use it anyway, what's the problem with that?
Well, if anyone starts this project please leave a note here.

--- Comment #8 from Kyle Auble randomidman48@yahoo.com 2012-09-27 22:24:52 CDT --- Sometime in the next few months, I plan to test moving WineHQ onto various frameworks and CMSes. I think SSO is a basic feature that comes with most of them so this should naturally follow.
Since opinions about SSO seem to be mixed, perhaps we could have a compromise? While it may not be a default feature, I would think we could define one ID for each account across all services, but only activate it for a specific service when the account holder requests. If there's demand for it, we could even allow people to define service-specific "aliases" and passwords if they want to actively opt out of SSO.

--- Comment #13 from Jeremy Newman jnewman@codeweavers.com --- (In reply to mintos@discard.email from comment #12)
has there been any progress?
No. Doing this requires patching and maintaining multiple codebases in multiple languages. Leaning one codebase is challenging enough. 4 different sites (Bugs, Forums, Wiki, AppDB) is a huge undertaking since they all have their own way of managing users.
The amount of work far outweighs any annoyance level.

What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |bart-wa@tushmail.com
--- Comment #14 from Bart bart-wa@tushmail.com --- The last post here is more than three years ago, and I hope I still have something useful to add.
I recently started using Wine and to be honest, I'm really happy with it.
There's probably a lot of work to do and I was checking if I can also contribute. I was also surprised that I had to create a separate logon for Bugs, Forums, Wiki, and AppDB.
With different organizations I have more than 600 profiles. If I had to make four separate IDs with each, that would have been 2400 profiles total.
I understand that it can be a challenge to combine the logon ID's for 4 different sites, while there's probably lots of other work waiting, but could the user have a remark on the screen when trying to logon or when trying to make an ID that a separate logon ID is needed for each?
The more accessible the Wine websites are for new users, the higher the chance that Wine can welcome new volunteers. ;-)
