The Full Tilt Poker client Version WIN.FullTilt.COM.11.2 runs fine, but once you quit the application the FullTiltPoker.exe proccess remains and never quits - you have to kill it. Because of this you cannot save any preferences in the app.

I tried taskset -c 0, which eliminated that double free, but the hang remained.

Anyway, the original issue might be hard to reproduce nowadays because the client always tries to auto-update itself upon launch. Adding to that, update servers (DNS) changed hence if you take a super old snapshot it can't even auto-update nor communicate with actual lobby servers.
The client underwent several rewrites through the years, switching to Qt -> Qt4 -> Qt5 etc. IMHO not worth digging deeper into.
