Just a precision: The issue is the program not starting. There is no issue with WINEDEBUG=+relay being slow. It's a debugging option, not intended for normal operation.

WINEDEBUG=+relay modifies the behavior of Wine regarding certain internal functions. Sometimes this hides the issue and we have to find another way to debug.

But first things first: You were asked to perform a regression test in comment 2. Please, do.

If you don't know how/can't/it goes over your head, at least attach a normal terminal output (without any WINEDEBUG), to the present bug.

It should be run from Steam though, running as 'wine WormsRevolution.exe' makes it load and display message box "Cannot connect to Steam", after which it exits.

This is irrelevant. Pirated software is unsupported here. Unless someone confirms (with a full terminal output) that the issue affects legally obtained copies of the application this bug will remain invalid.
