Bug #: 32689 Summary: Shockwave_installer_Full SWDNLD.EXE problem Product: Wine Version: 1.5.21 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: blocker Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: soohyun2222@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 43131 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=43131 Macromedia SWNDLD.exe writing problem
I can't install Shockwave program using file: Shockwave_Installer_Full.exe Installer stops in the beginning saying Error opening file for writing C:\windows\system32\Adobe\Director\SWDNLD.EXE Before that, the installer extracts M5if32.dll and M5drvr32.exe to the Director folder. I tried changing chmod for the file.
[root@localhost Director]# ll total 660 -rwxrwxr-x. 1 sol013 sol013 330 Oct 4 01:11 M5drvr32.exe -rw-rw-r--. 1 sol013 sol013 330 Oct 4 01:11 M5if32.dll -rw-rw-r--. 1 sol013 sol013 195584 Oct 4 02:49 np32dsw_1168638.dll -rw-rw-r--. 1 sol013 sol013 322520 Oct 16 11:10 SwDir_1168638.dll -rwxrwxrwx. 1 sol013 sol013 143832 Oct 16 11:10 SWDNLD.EXE [root@localhost Director]#
However, when I installed this for the first time, it just gave me an error. I attached this log as file name macromedia_backtrace.txt
Secondly, if I choose to ignore this SWDNLD problem, it leads me to another error. I also attached the error log for this as backtrace2.txt
Some one made not of this in the app db and also said that version 1.3 has no problem of this but I thought I would just file this. Thanks in advance.

I also get the crash. The popup error message about SWDNLD.EXE only occurs when there are processes left running from a previous crash.
This is not a regression. The AppDB howto (and my own test report from 1.3.22) state that neither the slim nor full exe installers work, and the workaround is to use the msi installer downloaded by winetricks.

--- Comment #3 from Soohyun Lee soohyun2222@gmail.com 2013-01-11 03:05:46 CST --- Thanks for the guidance on how to set severity level :)
Yes, I followed the wine tricks as you suggested and now it plays animations really well!
However, this was just a part of playing a game called fortress. It is worms like game. I found the problem is that javascript fails to call program on a hard drive. However, firefox is also winetrick installed, I think theres a problem there. I will file a separate bug report on that , thanks.

Go download file called winetricks and do "sh winetricks" Thre should be a GUI installer to guide you through.
